Lockdown 3!

We are now in Lockdown 3 and work has tailed off rather. However Charlie is still selling Atmosphere prints and printing for others like Andy Goldsworthy. Apart from the various lockdown challenges that have taken place among our group nothing much is happening. It has been and continues to be a bizarre time.

The last challenge was about gardens, or something we had cultivated, called Aren’t We Lucky to Live Here, and was exclusively drawing or painting. The group received Cheesy Wotsits as a prize. It made a change from photography.

Speaking of which there is an excellent zine brought out by Ricky Adams called Don’t Forget About Me which shows photographs of dead office plants which have been neglected during lockdown.

It is similar in a way to Anna Mellor Meecham’s drawing for our last challenge. She, on the other hand, lavishes her plants with care but finds that they die. My experience of houseplants is that they just die anyway. Charlie has just added a photograph to the challenge but it is far too late to win some Cheesy Wotsits.

Ricky Adam’s zine features an introduction by SJ Bradley, which reads: "We stayed home, and tried to stay out of trouble. Checked in on neighbours and elderly relatives by phone or video call. Where we could wave out of our windows, we did. A couple of times a week, we might visit our local park or green space to listen to the birds, to enjoy the sun and air. It was a time of being constantly where you were because there was nowhere else to go. Many concentrated on the essentials: eating, learning, playing together, doing our best to enjoy what we had. Nobody thought desperately of how soon they would be able to get back to the office; nobody watered their office plants."
